> Show each image’s title, caption or description on its slide, without typing it again, and how to place and style the caption.

Every image in the Media Library can have a title, a caption and a description. Gutenslider can show one of them on the slide, so you type it once and it appears wherever the image is used. (Updated for Gutenslider 7.0.)

### 1. Fill in the Media Library

Open **Media → Library**, click an image and fill in its *Caption* (or title, or description). Photographers who caption their uploads anyway get the captions for free.

### 2. Turn captions on for a slide

- Make sure the slider uses **changing content** (captions belong to single slides).
- Select a slide.
- In its settings, choose what the automatic caption shows: title, caption, description, or a combination.
- Set the slide’s content position to place the caption, for example bottom left.

### 3. All slides at once (Pro)

With Gutenslider Pro you set the caption format and the content position on the slider itself, and every slide follows. That is bulk editing: handy for a slider with twenty photos.

### Captions with more than text

An automatic caption is plain text. For a caption with a link or a button, add blocks to the slide instead: a paragraph, a heading, a button. You can mix both.

### Styling captions

Automatic captions take your theme’s text styles. For a background behind the text, add CSS, scoped to the slider:

```
.wp-block-eedee-block-gutenslider .slide-content {
	background: rgb(0 0 0 / 55%);
	color: #fff;
	padding: 0.5rem 0.9rem;
	border-radius: 8px;
}
```

### Photo credits

Many free photo sites ask for an attribution. Put it in the image’s caption field and turn on automatic captions, and the credit shows on the slide.
