Privacy policy

What happens with your data on gutenslider.org (Datenschutzerklärung).

Who is responsible

The controller under the GDPR is Niklas Jurij Plessing (eedee), Luxemburger Straße 31, 13353 Berlin, Germany. Email: gutenslider@eedee.net.

In short

  • This site sets no cookies for visitors, has no tracking or analytics, and loads nothing from other servers: fonts, images, videos and scripts come from gutenslider.org. The exceptions are the YouTube and Vimeo videos on the examples page (below).
  • There are no forms and no comments on this site.
  • The web server keeps short technical logs (below).
  • When you buy Gutenslider Pro, the checkout runs on Freemius (below).

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. When you open a page, the server records your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in a working and safe website). The logs are deleted after a short period and are not combined with other data. We have a data processing agreement with the host (Art. 28 GDPR).

YouTube videos on the examples page

The YouTube and “Video from any link” examples on the examples page show thumbnails stored on gutenslider.org. Only when you view one of them does the video on screen load the YouTube player from youtube-nocookie.com (YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode), operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Like any embedded video, this sends your IP address and browser details to YouTube, and YouTube may store data in your browser once the video plays. Google may process data in the USA. Our basis is our legitimate interest in showing how the plugin handles YouTube videos (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). YouTube’s own privacy policy applies. The other pages load nothing from YouTube.

Vimeo videos on the examples page

The “Video from any link” example on the examples page also shows two videos hosted on Vimeo, with thumbnails stored on gutenslider.org. Only when such a video’s slide shows or you click play does it load the Vimeo player from player.vimeo.com, with Vimeo’s “do not track” setting on (dnt=1), operated by Vimeo.com, Inc., 330 West 34th Street, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10001, USA. Like any embedded video, this sends your IP address and browser details to Vimeo. Vimeo processes data in the USA; it takes part in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Our basis is our legitimate interest in showing how the plugin handles Vimeo videos (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Vimeo’s own privacy policy applies. The other pages load nothing from Vimeo.

Buying Gutenslider Pro (Freemius)

The buy buttons open the checkout of Freemius, Inc., 251 Little Falls Drive, Wilmington, Delaware 19808, USA, which sells Gutenslider Pro as merchant of record: Freemius processes your payment, sends the invoice and manages your license. The data you enter at checkout (name, email, billing address, payment details) goes to Freemius under its own privacy policy; we receive your name, email and license details to support you (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, performance of a contract). Freemius is based in the USA; transfers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. The Gutenslider plugin itself sends nothing to Freemius unless you activate a Pro license.

Email

If you email us, we use your address and message to answer you (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them when they are no longer needed, unless we have to keep them by law (for example invoices).

Links to other sites

Links to wordpress.org, Freemius, GitHub or Pexels are plain links: nothing is loaded from those sites until you click one. Their own privacy policies apply there.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data (Art. 15 GDPR), its correction (Art. 16), deletion (Art. 17), restricted processing (Art. 18) and a copy in a portable format (Art. 20), and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21). Write to gutenslider@eedee.net. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the one where you live or the one responsible for us.
